The Louvre

While in Paris, I took the opportunity to go into the Louvre and peek around. The building itself was incredible. The mix of the old and new was very cool. Of course I was able to see the Mona Lisa...though I think its a bit underwhelming and has too much hype, it was still cool to see. I also saw the Venus de Milo and the Winged Victory of Samothrace (both pictured below), which are very famous statues. Overall, I think my favorite part was just walking around the building and seeing how huge this museum really is. It was impressive. However, I found it odd that you could just take pictures with flash of whatever you wanted...especially the Mona Lisa, it kind of blew my mind (though I do now have pics to remember the museum).

Museo Reina Sofia

Because I am feel very scattered right now I decided to break up my Paris posts with a museum post from about a month ago. Museo Reina Sofia (aka Queen Sofia's museum) is the modern art museum in Madrid. It contains a ton of Dalí and Picasso paintings (like Picasso's Guernica). It was very impressive and I highly recommend it. Here are some pics from the museum, part of which is very very old and part very new...and overall very cool! Have a peek!

How cool are these elevator towers!?

Museo ABC

Last week I went to this adorable museum in my neighborhood which has illustrations mostly from comics. It was a short 7 minute walk from my home to here. The building is the main reason why I wanted to go. It's so unique and fun! The floor of the outside space is the ceiling of the museum. It was small but very cool. Now I am off to work (I am helping this adorable 4 year old learn english) and then pack for paris! I probably won't be around here until Sunday night or Monday!
Much love,

Museo del Prado

After school Friday Amber and I walked to Museo del Prado. It was huge, overwhelming but oh so beautiful. If you know art at all you probably know Van Dyke. We got to see some of his most famous paintings. Seriously incredible and most of the ones we saw were painted when he was only 15-16 years old. Pretty insane. It was a very good time. On our way home from here we went to El Casco Viejo (the restaurant from a different post). So overall Friday was a very swell day!

The only picture from inside the museo because you aren't suppose to take pics.
Mucho amor,
Sara
